Traditional Press Release Sample

This was a traditional press release written for a mock StarbucksCorporate Social Responsibility campaign. This press release is introducing new merchandise released at all Starbucks stores to benefit the nobel peace prize-winning nonprofit, Doctors Without Borders.

Penn State Geography Department's Newsletter Features

These are two feature stories that I wrote for the Penn State Geography Department's bi-annual newsletter. This newsletter is published twice a year and sent to alumni and students.

The first feature is about three geography and film double majors, and the second is about a non-traditional student who studies with Penn State's Geography Department from his home in Alaska.

CSR Analysis

This was the first leg of a semester long project in which I designed a mock Corporate Social Responsibility campaign.

In this file you will find the CSR Analysis I wrote in order to explain and justify the reason for pairing the for-profit company, Starbucks, with the nobel peace prize winning noprofit, Doctors Without Borders in order to create a campaign.

Fundraising Letter

In a communications class, I was asked to throughly research a local nonprofit in State College, PA in order to write a fundraising letter from the perspective of the nonprofit. I chose to write a letter from the Center County Women's Resource Center (CCWRC) to a potential donor.

Student Feature Story

This was a multimedia feature story for a 400-level Feature Writing course at Penn State. I was required to write a short feature story, creating "looks" or snapshots into the life of an interesting Penn State student. What made this feature special, and also challenging, was that I was also required to conduct an interview (which turned out to be 1 hour long) and cut it down to a 60-second audio clip to accompany the piece.

Personal Narrative

This was a personal narrative I wrote my freshman year of college about my experience studying abroad in Australia. I believe this piece shows my creativity in writing and ability to use emotion to create a relationship with the reader or audience.
